Introduction
Padamnabh is a revered form of Lord Vishnu truly worshipped all over the world. He lies down on sheshnaag with Mata Lakshmi and Lotus on his one hand.
Apparently when Lord Vishnu peacefully rests on the coils of Sheshnaag is known as Padamnah bhagwan. However, it is shown that during Chaturmas lord Vishnu sleeps on Sheshnaag in the cosmic ocean, Kshirsagar. Particulalry this restful state is known as Padmanabh. We have seen on many mythological TV serials and read many mythological books stating the true form of Shri Hari Vishnu in Padamnabh form only.
Why Padmanabh Dwadashi is so special?
As per ancient belief, Lord Vishnu awakens after his long rest on Padmanabh Dwadashi. Do you know this long rest is also known as Chaturmas. Where the control and regulation of the Universe is handed over to Mahadev by Lord Vishnu.
In this powerful and mesmerising state of Shri Hari Vishnu, lord Brahma is seated on a lotus and chanting the sacred Aum. Besides, one of the hand of Lord Padamnabh is restign upon Shivlinga.
Certainly, Padamnabh Dwadashi is the day of symbolic fresh for each one of us. As Lord Vishnu wakes up from his Yognidra, we should also start a fresh for our spiritual and physical realms.
I personally, considere this day as reminder to have few restful moment before starting embracing the oppurtunity to rise and shine again in our every endeavour. After all this is what Dharma teaches us in Sanatana Dharma.
Date and tithi of Padmanabh Dwadashi 2025
Apparently, the Dwadashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin mas of Hindu Panchang is the end of Chaturmas. Hence, it is celebrated as Padmanabh Dwadashi. Just after Papankusha Ekadashi.
However, Padmanabh Dwadashi 2025 will be observed on 4 October 2025. This Dwadashi tithi will start at 6:33 PM on October 3, 2025 and will end up at 5:09 PM on October 4, 2025.

Significance of Padmanabh Dwadashi 2025
Hinduism has great significance for Padamnabh Dwadashi as this day is considered auspicious for new startups, new beginings and new ventures. Also, it is believed that travelling to new place on this day brings good results. And good fortunes stays with the devotee if he starts a new venture by taking Lord Padmanabh name.
Moreover, on Padmanabh Dwadashi, the Anant Padmanabh form of Lord Vishnu is worshipped with devotion. This day holds special significance for many devotees. It is believed that by by praying to Lord Shri Hari in his Padmanabh form, the poorest of devotees can attain wealth, childless couples are also blessed with child and recieve moksha.
According to the Varaha Purana, it is believed that devotees who observe the Padmanabh Dwadashi fast are blessed with happiness and prosperity. Likewise, this fast holds great spiritual significance, offering a path to both worldly success and ultimate liberation.
My perspective on Lord Padamnabh
As per Padma Purana and Vishnu Purana, this representation of divine Lord Padmanabh teaches us life lessons.
Unlike lotus, we should also bloom beautifully from our day to day anxiety, worries and stress by reciting Harinaam mala. Just like Lord Brahma was born from a lotus that bloomed from Shri Vishnu’s navel, we should also learn and unlearn the basics of life from his awatars.
Although, the symbol of Padmanabha Vishnu and Padmasana Lakshmi represents water and fertility.
He is revered with different names here :
- Padmanabha, meaning lotus navel.
- Pundarikaksha, meaning lotus-eyed.
- Padmapani, meaning lotus-handed.
- Besides in the form of Lord Narasimha, a lotus emerges from the his head.
Rituals of Padmanabh Dwadashi 2025
- Firstly, wake up early and have your bathing rituals done on time.
- On this day, devotees should worship the Padmanabh form of Lord Vishnu with utmost devotion.
- The fast is observed on Dwadashi, which comes after Papankushi Ekadashi.
- Install an image or an idol of Lord Vishnu resting on Sheshnag in your puja place.
- Thenafter, offer flowers, diya with cow ghee, rice, kumkum to the idol and recite Vishnu Sahasranama.
- To recieve abundance, blessings and good health, devotee must worship him properly and recite Vishnu sahastranama and Sri Suktam as per Vedic precision.
- Additionally, do not forget to chant : Om Padmanabhaya Namah, 21 times infront of Lord Padamnabh idol. End your puja with Aarti.
- Lastly, offer prayers to beloved tree of Shri Hari, Banana Tree. And do not forget to offer jaggery to Lord Padmanabh on tusi sacred day. Also, offer food to Brahmin on this day to attain Punya.

Thus we know that by observing the fast and worship on Padmanabh Dwadashi one can receive immense benefits. Maa Lakshmi fills the home of the devotee with immense wealth. Furthermore, happiness and prosperity increase along with growth in fame and strength.
