How Hanuman recieved Ashta Siddhi?

in his childhood, Hanuman was called Maruti. Apparently, he was a mischievous child. As he was son of Vaayudev, God of wind, he was blessed with power of flying. Once, he was eating mangoes with his friends. He accidentally took Sun as biggest and sweetest mango. Thus, he went up the sky to reach the Sun and ear it.

Moreover, he was warned by Pakshiraj Jatayu, Rahu and other demigods. But, as he was determined to eat the Sun, he went straight to eat it. On this, he swallowed the Sun. Thus, it resulted in darkness everywhere in the world.

Worried, Indra, King of gods hit him with his vajra Astra. Suddenly, Maruti fell down Om the Earth. Angered Vayudev, stopped the air in whole universe. Upon this, all Gods and demigods came to Vayudev and asked for realise of air to run the life easily on the Earth.

Later, every god blessed Maruti with weapons, Astra, knowledge and wisdom. He was given blessings of Ashtasiddhi by Lord Brahma.

Further, he was given name Hanuman, as the vajra broke hanu( chin) of Maruti.

What are the Ashta Siddhi?

Do you know Hanumanji is called biggest devotee of Shri Ram? Lord Rama is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. To know more about him, read my blog.

It is believed that only Mahabali Hanuman had the caliber and power to handle eight Siddhis and nine Nidhis. As per our ancient texts, Nav Niddhis are rhe most valuable things in the world. No wealth and property matter in front of them.

Hanumanji was blessed with Ashta Siddhi( eight types of Siddhis), which makes a person to take the form of any person, take form of a very small body to a very huge body. Additionally, he could reach wherever he wanted in a moment with the power of his mind.

Which are the eight Siddhis?Apart from Hanuman Chalisa, the eight Siddhis have also been mentioned in . Let us know what are those eight Siddhis-

Anima

Anima derived form word Anu. Anu refers tot he atom. With the power of this Siddhi, Hanumanji transformed into very small size during the hunt of Sita mata in to searhc inside the Lanka. King Ravan had gaurds all thoughout the Lanka. Thus, it was difficult.for.him to enter the vicinity with real size.

This siddhi gives the power to shrink to the tiniest of size. Infact, this Siddhi blesses the person to take a very subtle form at any time.

Mahima

Mahima is the second siddhi which gives the power to expand infinitely. He took bigger size,e to cover 100 yojan distance to reach Lanka.

Hanumanji expanded himself during the war between Rama and Ravana. Ahiravana, brother of Ravana took Shri Rama and Lakshman Ji to the Patala lok. While, Hanumanji searched them out and brought them back to the battlefield by gaining a much bigger size. As the distance was too much, so he asked Lord Rama and Lakshmana ji to sit over his shoulders to reach the field soon.

Garima

Garima is the siddhi which gives the power to become extremely heavy at a moment’s notice. Although, it gives power to the bearer by making the physical body as immovable as a mountain.

Hanuman ji became extremely heavy in Mahabhabrata. Once, Bheema was prideful of his strength and powers. He was boasting his powers and strength to everyone and thought that he is the most powerful human on the Earth. Eventually, Lord Hanuman took form of an old and weak monkey siting on his path towards forest. There, he asked Bheema.to cross over the path after removing his tail. However, Bheema used all his valour and strength but could bot move an inch. Thus, Hanuman taught him the lesson to be humble by using Garima Siddhi.

Laghima

Laghima is a siddhi to become weightless. With this siddhi, Hanumanji made his weight as light as feather and could go anywhere in a moment. It is opposite of Garima. Bajrang Bali used laghima siddhi when he was infront of Sursa, a succubus. Besides, he became very light and went back to flying back to his aim.

Prapti

With the help of this siddhi, Hanumanji can obtain any object instantly. He can understand the language of animals and birds and can see the future. As per Rsmayana, Hanumanji used Prapti Siddhi during the hunt of Mata Sita. He went to Ashoka Vatika while conversing with animals ans birds to locate her exactly.

Prakamya

This is the sixth siddhi blessed to Hanuman ji. With the help of this siddhi, one can go to the depths of the Earth, fly in the sky and can also stay alive in water for as long as he wants.

As per Padam Ramayana, Mahaveer Anjani Putra did used this siddhi during wars to reach Patalloka from a single crack tofind out the ring of Shri Rama.

Ishitva

Ishitva refers to power of supreme control or mastery over the nature forces. As per Ramayana, With the help of this siddhi, Hanumanji got divine powers.

As pr Ramayan, Hanumanji controlled A large number of army of monkeys through this siddhi only.

Vashitva

Vashitva here does not mean to hypnotise or to control or subdue. The power of influence and guide others with wisdom and compassion means siddhi of Vashitva. Because of this sidhdi only, despite of his powerful body, wisdom and devotion, he was grounded, self controlled and had control over his mind.

However, modern world thinks Vashitva as power intended to manipulate others for selfish ends. Instead, it refers to the compassionate guidance that leads others to path of Dharma. Likewise, when we worship him, he shows us the right way. Hence, it is the reason to call him Atulit Baldhama.
