Significance of Pausha mas

Furthermore, the Paush month itself is unique in Sanatan Dharma, as it is entirely dedicated to the worship of the Lord Sun. Every day during this month, devotees offer prayers to Surya Dev, and on Sundays, many observe fasts to seek his blessings. It is said that worshiping the Sun God not only ensures good health but also brings growth in career and business.

As the Paush month concludes on Purnima Tithi, the occasion becomes even more auspicious. On this day, devotees perform the worship of Lord Satyanarayan. However, Satyanarayan katha is recited on thsi day by Hindus. Date and tithi of Pausha Purnima 2025

In 2025, Paush Purnima will be celebrated on Monday, January 13, 2025. It falls on Shukla Paksha of pausha mas of Hindu Panchang.

However, Shukla Pausha Purnima will have Moonrise at 05:05 PM. Also the Purnima Tithi will start on January 13, 2025 at 05:03 AM and will end up on January 14, 2025 at 03:56 AM.

Besides, we have Paush Purnima Muhurta at Amrit time( Best for Bath and Daan) from 07:14 AM to 08:33 AM on 13 January 2025.

Another Shubh Muhurat will.be from 09:52 AM to 11:10 AM.

Laabh Muhurat for growth(Unnati) will start at 03:06 PM and stay till 04:25 PM

Rituals

Hindus follow given rituals on this divine day :

  1. Start your Paush Purnima with an early bath at 4 am at Holy river near you and should do a Jalabishek of Lord Shiva. After bathing, should chant sacred mantras of Lord Surya, offering Arghya to Lord Surya is stated to be propitious. Following this, the person should do penance with mantras on the day of Paush Purnima.
  2. Do not forget to offer bananas to Lord Shiva on this day to recieve astonishing benefits.
  3. People also worship Lord Krishna along with Lord Shiva. Besides, one should recite Krishan Chalisa and then do aarti and later offer food to a cow and doing so gives you Moksha.
  4. There is also a ritual of keeping fast on this day.
  5. Lastly, offering food to needy people or a Brahmin, donating alms washes of your biggest sins. Sesame seeds, jaggery, blankets and clothes can be donated.
