Who Is Lord Narasimha?

Lord Narasimha is depicted as half-man and half-lion form. Apparently, Lord Vishnu is considered as calm, benevolent and Sangfroid. While, Lord Narasimha is one of the most powerful and fierceful avatars of Lord Vishnu. According to ancient texts, he appeared to protect his devotee Prahlad and to rid the world of the tortures of demon king Hiranyakashipu.

Hiranyakashipu and Lord Narasimha

Lord Narasimha appeared on tue dusk of Chaturdashi to protect his dear devotee Prahlad from his cruel father, Hiranyakashipu. However, Hiranyakashipu had performed severe penances and received a blessing from Lord Brahma. As a result, he could not be killed by any living being—be it demigod, demon, human, or animal—at any time or place. Therefore, Narasimha’s divine intervention was the only way to save Prahlada.

As per Hindu Panchang, Narasimha Jayanti falls on Chaturdashi (14th day) of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh mas.

Further, in 2025, we have Narasimha Dwadashi on 11 th May. Furthermore, the Chaturdashi tithi will start on May 10, 2025 at 05:29 PM and ends on May 11, 2025 at 08:01 PM.
