Have you ever thought how Lord Surya, the god Sun, was born? Hinduism is one of the ancient religion followed till date. Let’s read and move to the voyage to explore the birth of Lord Surya.

Let’s read about the birth story of Lord Surya.

Particularly, this story takes us back to an ancient time when existence of the universe was under threat. Demons frequently attacked the gods and created havoc everywhere. Subsequently, one such battle raged on for years, endangering the cosmos. All the gods defeated and distressed, seeked refuge to Lord Sun.

And, here came the time of birth of Surya Dev.

Birth of Lord Surya

Once upon a time, the gods faced a grave crisis. Demons constantly attacked them, and a fierce war went on for years. As a result, it threatened the very existence of the universe. Now, all the gods wandered from forest to forest to seek refuge.

Who was Sage Narad?

However, Sage Narad was a great sage who traveled across the universe, constantly chanting Narayan-Narayan. His wisdom and devotion were known everywhere in the Universe.

Seeking the help from Divine

Eventually, in their (gods) despair, Devrishi Narad, a wise sage, stepped forward to help.

On this, sage Narad visited the ashram of Maharishi Kashyap. Apparently, Maharishi Kashyap suggested that only a being as bright and powerful as the Sun could save them. However, this power needed to take a human form to lead the divine forces to fight back. Now, the need of hour was a woman of exceptional strength and purity who could give birth to such a child.

Aditi: Mother of Lord Surya

After much discussions and thoughts, , the gods reached Devmata Aditi, the wife of Maharishi Kashyap for help. As she was worthy of this honour. Thus, Aditi agreed to take on the responsibility to carry Lord Surya in her womb.

And through penance, sacrifice and meditation, she prayed to Lord Surya to be born as her son. Thus, Lord Surya blessed her with Tathastu(So be it). Hence, he agreed to descend to the Earth as her Son.

The Birth of Aditya : Lord Surya

Soon, Aditi felt the divine presence of Lord Surya within her womb. When the time arrived, she gave birth to a radiant and blessed child. Particulalry, his light illuminated the world. He was named Aditya, recognizing his divine origin from mata Aditi. The gods were filled with hope and joy to his strength and brilliance during his growing up years.

Aditya : the Commander

Eventually, the gods appointed Aditya as the commander of their army to fight with Demons. Although, he fought the demons. Likewise, demons and the dark forces couldn’t withstand Aditya’s brilliance. They were soon defeated and left to the netherworld. Finally, peace returned to the heavens by the grace and power of Aditya. Hence all the gods made Aditya the protector of the universe and ruler of all planets.

Aditya ascends as Lord Surya

After defeating the darkness, Aditya immersed to his eternal form as the Sun God. Subsequently, he settled at the center of the universe to be the ever-watchful guardian. Lord Surya continues to inspire the world by spreading light, life and protection till date.

At the end, the birth and journey of Lord Surya, from his humble beginnings to his emergence as the Sun God, teaches us various lessons.Thus, he teaches us bravery, purity and divine duty.
