Eventually, astrologers and pandits emphasis on Udyatithi for every festival and vrat. But, as you all know Lakshmi Pujan is performed after sunset, we will have Lakshmi pujan on 20 October 2025. The tithi will start at 15:44 PM on October 20, 2025 and will end up at 5:44 PM on 21st October 2025.
The auspicious time for Lakshmi puja on this day will be from 7:08 PM to 8:18 PM on 20 th October 2025.
Moreover, During this period, Pradosh Kaal will be from 05:46 PM to 08:18 PM on October 20, 2025. Besides, we have Vrishabha Kaal from 07:08 PM to 09:08 PM on October, 20, 2025.
Diwali traditions can differ depending on how regions follow the lunar calendar. But in my experience, most of us prefer celebrating after sunset on Amawasya, following the rituals that keep the festival’s spiritual essence alive.
Moreover on the day of Diwali, Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, and Lord Ganesha, the giver of Riddhi-Siddhi, are worshipped. Worshipping Shree Yantra and Kuber Yantra is also considered beneficial and thus brings progress.
Easy steps of performing Lakshmi Pujan at home
My dear readers, one can also perform Lakshmi Pujan at home with given easy steps:
- First, get ready for the puja by cleaning the house and decorating it. Before starting Lakshmi puja, sprinkle Ganga water around the house and on your family for purification.
- Next, set up the puja altar. Place a wooden patta as the base, spread a red cloth on it, and sprinkle some grains. Draw a Swastik using turmeric or Roli, then place the idols or images of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh on the altar.
- How do you install the Kalash? Fill a copper pot three-fourths with water and add coins, betel nut, raisins, clove, dry fruits, and cardamom. Arrange mango leaves around the top of the pot and place a coconut in the center. Set the Kalash on the puja altar, decorating it with vermillion, flowers, and a Swastik.
- After that, give a holy bath to the idols. First, bathe them with ganga water, panchamrit, sandal water, and rose water. Next, decorate the idols with turmeric powder, sandal paste, and vermillion. Finally, place garlands and lotus flowers around them.

- Lakshmi pujan begins with the first offering to Lord Ganesh, followed by mata Lakshmi. Common offerings include batasha, laddoos, betel leaves, nuts, dry fruits, coconut, homemade dishes, sweets and some silver and gold coins. Moreover, it is custom to keep currency in Diwali Pujan.
- People also keep new Bahi khate, ledger books and pens and stationery to be used in business transaction fro upcoming financial year.
- Diyas and incense sticks are lit, and rose and lotus flowers are offered while chanting the mantra. Next, listen to the story of Goddess Lakshmi, also known as Lakshmi’s Panchali, usually recited by an elder while everyone listens attentively. At the end, flowers are offered to the goddess, along with sweets. Do not forget to recite given mantra :ॐ हिरण्यवर्णां हरिणीं, सुवर्णरजतस्त्रजाम् । चन्द्रां हिरण्मयीं लक्ष्मीं, जातवेदो म आ वह ।।
- Finally, the puja ends with the aarti, where the camphor light is waved, and prayers for prosperity are offered. Sweets are then shared as Prasad.
