Although over-the-counter medications can alleviate these symptoms, they may also bring unwanted side effects. Consequently, an increasing number of individuals are opting for natural home remedies to alleviate their cold and cough symptoms.
Presenting you the most handy remedies that I have been using for years effectively.
Sweet Kada of Jaggery
- Boil 1 glass of water. Add jaggery in it. Stir well to make thick paste on low flame.
- Add half table spoon of Green cardamon powder, half table spoon of ajwain (carrom seeds), half table spoon of black pepper, half tablespoon of black salt, half table spoon of sonth powder (dry ginger) in the boiling paste..
- Stir it till it become thick. Make it cool down and store it in a vessel.
- Take one spoon with warm water at morning and evening.
- Surely, you will get relief form cold and cough.
Kada of Tulsi
- Boil 1 glass of water in a steel container..
- Grind 30 -40 freshly plucked leaves of tulsi plant. Try to use shayam tulsi.
- Add grated ginger in it. Add ½ spoon of Black Peper powder.
- Boil the concoction till it become half of its quantity.
- Switch off the flame. Now add honey in it.
- Take 1 spoon of this remedy at night.
- Avoid drinking water within 30 minutes of its consumption.
- You will be amaze to see phelgm goes away soon.
Van Tulsi
- When My kids were very young, this remedy worked wonders for me.
- Firstly, Try to pluck fresh leaves and flowers of this plant called van tulsi.
- Now keep it under the pillow or near the bed side of child, aroma of this plant will vanish the cold of the baby.
- You can also rub the leaves and flowers of this plant to the feet of child for 2-3 minutes before nap time.
Mulethi Kada
- Boil a glass of water.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon mulethi (licorice) powder, a pinch of cinnamon powder and black pepper powder in it.
- Now, add few tulsi leaves.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.Transfer to a cup and add 1 teaspoon honey to it.
- Drink this kadha twice a day
Golden Milk
This one is the most effective remedy. We all must have had it during covid times.
- Warm 1 glass of Milk.
- Add 1 teaspoon of Turmeric in it.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon powder in it.
- Let it boil.
- Now, switch off the flame.
- Let the milk cools down to room temperature now add Honey.
- Drink this golden milk before bedtime.
Using Camphor
I have been using this remedy effectively for years for both of my kids.
- Take small quantity of camphor powder. Fill it in a tissue paper or mulmul cloth.
- Keep it near the bedside or pillow of kid.
- the aromatic effect of camphor will vanish the bad vibes of cold and cough.
