Additionally, Chhath Puja involves a series of rituals performed over four days. Likewise, Chhath Puja is also known as Pratihar, Daala Chhath, Chhathi and Surya Shashthi.

Further, devotees mainly married women observe fasting. They take holy baths and make offerings to the rising and setting the Sun. Although it is not confined only to women, even men can also do this puja.

Date and timings of Chhath Puja 2025

Chhath Puja is celebrated for four days:.

Nahay Khay on October 25, 2025

Firstly, on the first day, which is known as Nahay Khay. Devotees bath in a lake, river or stream before having a basic lunch.

Sunrise time is 6:23 AM and sunset time is October 2025.

Lohnda and Kharna on October 26, 2025

Secondly, devotees fast for the full day on the second day, known as Kharna. And then they indulge in a sumptuous supper. In addition to sunrise time on 26 October 2025 is 6:24 AM and sunset time is 05:9 PM.

Sandhya Arghya on October 27, 2025

On third day devotees will have Surya Arghya at the end of day after observing Nirjala vrat. During the dawn and dusk hours of the third day, worshippers offer prayers to the Sun God.

In the whole year, this is the only day, when Surya arghya is offered to setting Sun. Moreover, sunrise time is 6:25 AM and sunset time is 05:38 PM on 27 October 2025.

Usha Arghya on October 28, 2025

Lastly, the fourth day is Usha Arghya. At dawn on the fourth and last day, devotees offer prayers to the Sun God, commemorating Usha Arghya. Meanwhile sunrise time on 28 October 2025 is 6:25 AM and sunset time is 05:38 PM.

On the fourth and final day of Chhath puja, Surya arghya is offered to the rising Sun and is known as Usha Arghya. Devotees observe fast during whole.Chhath Puja festival and complete the 36 hours fast after offering arghya to the Sun.

Sun is reverved from the pre vedic times. Even in archeological studies, we have found out that during indus valley civilisation, people used to worship Lord Surya. Infact, hindus always offer water as Surya Arghya, the first must to do ritual in the morning.
